A coffee shop has a sense of place that is part of their brand. For example every Starbucks has the same counter layout and approximate spacing, the same menu choices, etc. Dunkin Donuts also creates a sense of place as part of their brand. When you walk into a Dunkin Donuts, you know you are in a Dunkin Donuts and not a Starbuck's
Start-Up Coffee Shops don't have any branding to start. Someone has to create brand elements, color, sound, service style and products. Most of this was handed to me when I bought Next Stop Coffee Shop from the previous owner. I was lucky. But I wanted to make it my own too.
One of the lovely things about the Village of Glen Ellyn are the beautiful gardens, some privately owned, some owned by the Village of Glen Ellyn. The train station has some lovely plantings, but I wanted to enrich it outdoors and indoors. So when you come to the train station where my coffee shop is located, you will see plants of all kinds located around the station, and in the spring, summer and fall, gardens outside too.
